ups and downs

This past weekend was definitely a whirlwind of ups and downs for me....I'll start with the ups :)

Friday was a balmy 35 degrees with partly cloudy skies. My mom and I decided to head up Seven Springs for the afternoon to enjoy what we call beautiful for Pittsburgh weather. The snow was perfect, a little soft, but just soft enough. The super pipe was perfectly groomed with just the right texture of walls.

After a few warm-up runs, I spent the rest of the afternoon trying to shred the pipe. I switched to my sisters board which is a few cm small than mine and was flying high out of the pipe and riding awesome. It was the most perfect way to escape the city and of course end the crazy week. After boarding, I hit up the gym to do a little cross fit workout and run.

Saturday morning was spent doing a 2- hour trainer ride and 30 min run with my favorite Pittsburgh triathlon buddies. The ride flew by quicker than any other indoor trainer ride that I've done thus far. Thanx to the awesome Holderbaum hospitality and my new superstar triathlete friend Kim, it was quite an enjoyable morning.

The rest of my day was spent doing my least favorite thing in the world right now: studying for nueroscience and musculoskeletal exams. Neuroscience is not a fun class and is probably the hardest class at PT school. People fail out frequently because they fail neuroscience. SSCARRY!!!

Sunday, after church, I headed back to my apartment in Shadyside and opened the books up once again. I cheated and took a late afternoon break for a short run althought it was supposed to be my day off. I was ok until about 9 p.m last night. I had a breakdown and lost it for a little bit. With some consolation from my husband Scott, my roomate, and other SPT friends, I shook it off.....

Both tests are now behind me and I'm ready to go again. Through these ups and downs, I've realized one thing: I can't do it on my own. I count my blessings daily and am thankful for all that inspire, motivate, and support me along the way.

  1. I'm so glad to hear your tests are behind you! Way to go! Superstar, very sweet but I think not. I appreciate the kind words though. I love the snowboarding pics on facebook! That is so awesome! I ski, and I'm decent, but no where near good! I will be down to the burgh frequently over the next couple months so we'll do it again. My email is kimberlysbi@gmail.com so drop me a line! Talk soon!
