Banana Salted Almond Smoothie

As training vamps up for Rev3 South Carolina, Miami 70.3 and Rev3 Florida, I have had a hard time squeezing in enough calories.... Especially quality ones! With that said, this has been one of my favorite recovery smoothies lately.... I figured I would share in case you need some Vitamix inspiration.

Banana Salted Almond Smoothie

1.5 bananas (frozen)

1 cup coconut milk or almond milk

handful of salted almonds

1 Tbsp chia seeds

1/2 cup full fat FAGE greek yogurt

Throw ingredients in the Vitamix and done! You can substitute fresh bananas if you like, but I would throw in a 1/2 cup of ice as well if you chose this option. Enjoy!

Going Green Part II

Yes Heidi has gone missing once again. This time the culprit was Mardi Gras and IMTX training.
Despite my absence, I would love to share my latest clean recipe obsessions:

1). Heidi's Paleo Pasta Replacement
Ingredients:
1 TBS olive oil
2 zucchini's cut into strips using a peeler
1 tsp garlic minced
3 TBS fresh basil chopped finely
1 lb ground beef/turkey/chicken if you would like
2 cups tomato sauce

Directions:
Heat oil in skillet on med/high. Place zucchini in skillet until softened (30 sec-1minute)
Top with sauce, meat, and basil
Enjoy!

2). Heidi's Double Green Smoothie

(I made this smoothie using the Vitamix)
Ingredients:
1/2 cup soy, almond, or coconut milk
1/2 cup chilled green tea
1-banana
1-cup fresh spinach
1-cup pineapple (frozen)
1-tsp honey

Directions:
Mix all ingredients in the Vitamix and rev it up to a level 10 until desired consistency is reached.
Amazing!
