The last couple weeks have brought about a few pretty big changes in my life. After my poor run performance at the NOLA 70.3, I officially decided to hire a new coach. Given my extensive running history and profession, sometimes I feel like I should be able to do this single handedly. Experience however, has proven otherwise. I've found that it's far more beneficial to have that outside, objective person. While the program and coaching I used in the past was reliable and kept me injury free, it wasn't enough to make me fast. Swimming, biking, and running long slow distance will not make you fast. Yes- you will be able to finish the race but you will race the way you train. To take it to the next level, you ultimately must train the way you race. LSD will not cut it. Not for me.
For the rest of the year, I'm going to be training under my good friend Kim. With Kim's breakthrough performances over the past year, I think she has what it takes to really get me to the level I want to be at. Stay tuned!
And for the other big change...
It's official Heidi is a Doctor of Physical Therapy! So excited to start this new journey... Now if I can just pass those boards :)
Congrats on graduating! That is awesome! And, woohoo for hiring a coach!

ReplyDeleteYou have the determination and dedication to get your run goals. Keep up the good work.
Congrats DR HEIDI!! To be honest the boards sucked. I wouldnt worry too much bc its so random, you just have to be confident in your test taking and know you couldnt study any better or harder or anything.
ReplyDeleteThat Kim girl...I have heard of her. LOL:) Good for you!
Having a coach is a great step to take. Keeps you honest on training right instead of just punishing yourself without direction. Congrats, I always love seeing the Cathedral of Learning!
ReplyDeleteHa! I like Beth's comment :) I love the pic of you graduating! So proud of you!!
ReplyDeleteAWESOME!! Congrats.
ReplyDeletecongrats! Now you get to make some money. My suggestion is study long hours. The exam willbe 4 hours so you must have a brain that is trained to think that critically that long. WAY TO GO!
ReplyDeleteWOO HOO! CONGRATULATIONS!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the graduation! When are boards??? :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I think change is good...
Yay! Congratulations! You'll destroy your boards! And best of luck with training. Hopefully this will be exactly what you need.
