Risk Taking with Mother Nature

Lately Mother Nature and I have been at odds. What's up with this rain gulf-coasters? Seriously!! I think it's been 2 weeks or so non-stop! With this streak of bad luck I've been doing lots of this: (You can tell by my smirk that I'm not too happy to be stuck inside)

This weekend I had one of those days where I said enough is enough. Saturday, I awoke to dark skies and a weather map that was just plain scary. Mentally, I knew I wasn't having one of those days where I could crank a 3:30 ride out on the trainer. NOT going to happen. I double bagged my phone and headed out. My husband just shook his head in disgust....

Somehow I think my luck changed Saturday... I'm happy to say I survived THIS with only getting sprinkled on:
Probably a little ball-sy but I'm glad I went out. After spending my fair share of winters training in the North East... I have to be in dire circumstances to resort to the trainer or a treadmill. Yuck! Some would call me stupid, (especially my husband) but what can a girl do? Hoping for sunny skies soon!

Speaking of sunny skies, a HUGE congrats to my dear friend/coach Kim Schwabenbauer for placing as the 1st amateur/1st AG at Ironman Lake Placid. And also to Jeremy/Jocelyn (the fastest couple ever) for also rocking the race and walking away with Kona slots! It was such an inspiring day watching the race unfold on cyberspace!

  1. Glad you lucked out getting outside. I don't know how anyone can ride 3.5 hours week in week out on a bike outside, let alone inside.

    I suck though. :)

  2. Hoping for sunny skies for you! I think the trainer seems especially awful when it's warm outside...just too rainy/stormy!!

  4. Our weather has been thunderstormy almost every afternoon for several weeks, so I feel you! I hope you don't have to do too many more trainer rides!

  5. Oh gosh... if I was stuck indoors on my trainer all summer, I too would take some risks and hope that Mother Nature doesn't hate me that much! :)
