Formal Apology?

I'm not sure how to start this and if it's even worth while to write.... But a couple months ago for my first triathlon back, I wrote the North Park Race Report. In this report, I made mention of a 50-year-old something lady who basically hammered on the bike and kicked my A** hardcore. I also may have referred to her as a grandma.

Looking back, I was thinking my mom is 50-something and definitely old enough to be a grandma... Maybe my math skills are bad, but I figure I'm mid-twenties (2x27= close to being a grandma?) Ok maybe not...but my logic was then clearly off at the time.

Either way I'm horribly sorry for whomever my comments may have gotten back to. Sometimes I forget that this is posted on the internet for anyone to read. I never thought my blog was something that people outside of my circle read. I guess I learned my lesson the hard way although my comments were definitely taken the wrong way. Messages can very easily get misconstrued on the internet.

But any 50-something year old lady that is still participating in the sport of triathlon is cool in my book...Especially a lady that kicks my butt! Rock on ladies!

  1. There is a lady that does many of the races that I do who is in her early 50's. The first time I raced her I caught up to her on the run and was shocked to see the 50 something written on her calf. When she challenged and pulled away from me I was even more surprised. I have since come to know her as a very serious competitor and a very nice person. I never underestimate anyone of any age anymore, but it does creep into my head at times (I can't let so and so beat me, they are x years old!) but then I realize that there are some fit people out there of all ages and I should just be impressed with them and do my best for myself.

  2. OH hell, you can't worry about that. It's all a compliment. People get too bent out of shape these days over nothing!

  3. Haha! I agree with Missy!! And who knows what people call us! :) Keep me posted on if you come this way for IMFL. I have a friend who is trying to get people together to work the finish line - if you are interested I'll pass it along! But we'll have to get together!

  4. Yea Ya know...it is your blog., write what you want and i hardly think whatever you said was rude or trashtalking. I know i had an Anonymous comment and when i posted about passing people in a swim and it took me aback. I felt bad but i also know that i didnt mean it that way so if someone interpreted it wrong then all you can do is say "oops" and then THEY can chose to not read your blog.
