Although I've had my butt kicked by those fast 30-34 girls for the past year, it's finally official: I'm thirty! Wow does it feel weird to say that? Hitting this number has really opened my eyes to look at the past and the future in life, triathlon, and in my career. It has forced me to ask myself: Where do I want to go with this? What have I done well? What have I screwed up? For me, it ultimately boils down to throwing excuses and negative energy out the window. In triathlon it seems that I've always had an excuse: fractured-pieced-together-pelvis..... long distance marriage....graduate school....and then recently age group bump up. Everyone has an excuse. What will you do about it? For me it's time to grow up and man up. Life is too short for lame excuses!
On a lighter note to celebrate the the big day (and my husbands) and bring in the new year, we jet setted off to one of my favorite places in the world: Utah! The pictures tell the story far better than I do...
Although conditions were far from ideal, we still had a blast! And more importantly did not break anything :)
Given the lack of snow, we decided our time would be better spent doing some quality hiking. As you can tell by the photos, it was the best decision we made the whole trip.Moab was a dream and I can't wait to go back.... Almost makes me want to add St. George to my schedule. Now it's operation-get-back in shape as IMTX training has officially started. Cheers to being a 30-something and bringing it in 2012.
Happy birthday!
